“East-meets-West” concert in Ottawa and Toronto
An engaging “East-meets-West” concert, and an exciting encounter with the Chinese pipa—an instrument over two thousand years old will be presented to Ottawa and Toronto audience!
I invite you to one of the very exotic evenings featuring the distinguished Pipa master Lin Jiaqing from Beijing China, and “Yadong Guan Trio – pipa guitar and cello”. The Pipa, a four-stringed traditional Chinese instrument is one of the oldest instruments still in use today. It's promised to be a rare and delightful experience.
Mr. Lin is the Pipa First Chair at the China Folk Music and Dance Troupe, and a certified National First Class Performer. Ms. Yadong Guan is a both China- and Canada-educated award winning Pipa player, and has made great effort to explore the Western repertoire that can be played on Pipa. The gifted and elegant player Ms. Guan will be accompanied by two renowned musicians in their own right – Bruno Roussel on guitar and Jean Francois Marquis on cello in a wonderful fusion of music from East and West.
